Oakland Cubs

The Oakland Cubs is a youth running team. We are part of USATF and AAU and participate in cross country in the fall and track and field in the spring. Our team consist of recreational and competitive runners of various ages. 

The youth runners learn running technique, teamwork, sportsmanship, resiliency, among other life skills, all while having fun. All practices and competitions are age appropriate and based on years running. 

All youth are welcomed to join. No child wanting to participate will be turned away.

Winter Conditioning & 8U Winter Classes

  • 8U Winter Classes (Tues/Thurs @ 4:30-5:00p)

    • Athletes ages 4-8 will learn the sport of running through drills, games, and obstacle courses. The aim of this class is to learn through movement and fun. 

      • Session 1: Jan 3rd - Jan 19

      • Session 2: Jan 24 - Feb 9

      • Cost: $150 per session

      • Max 8 athletes

  • Form, Run and Weights (Sundays Jan 8 - Jan 29 @ 10a-12p)

    • For experienced middle and high school runners.

      • Classes will start with drills that focus on running form and posture, followed by a trail run, concluding with weight training. 

      • Cost: $200

      • Max 10 athletes

  • Winter Conditioning (Mon/Wed/Fri 4:30-5:30p)

    • Overall conditioning for all athletes.

    • Classes will focus on speed, agility, reaction time, and overall body strength. Games, drills, and body weight exercises will be utilized to create fun and effective conditioning classes.  Athletes should bring a water bottle and exercise mat to each class. 

      • Session 1: Jan 2- Jan 20 

      • Session 2: Jan 23 - Feb 10

      • Cost: $300 for 1 session OR $550 for both sessions

        • (If you are planning on signing up for both sessions email info@oaklandcubs.com to receive a discount code. You must sign up for both at the same time to receive the discount.)

      • Max 15 athletes

    Track and Field 2022

    Medal winners from AAU West Coast Championship in Reno

    AAU West Coast Championship in Reno

    Get ready for the 2022 Track and Field season. The season start February 23rd and runs through the end of July for those that qualify and attend the Junior Olympic in Sacramento, CA. Practices will be Wednesdays and Fridays around 6-7:30p and Sundays 10:00a-12:00p. Also, new this year we will have an 8U option. Those wanting earlier practices for their young athletes can opt for the 8U practices, Wednesdays 2:30-3:15p and Sunday 9:15-10a.
